Starting 26 July, socialist activists from all across the globe will gather for International Socialist Alternative’s 2025 world school. ISA members will discuss perspectives for the world situation, lessons from our sections’ work, and much more. To prepare the sort of united, international fightback that is necessary to put an end to the capitalist system, we need your help.
Capitalism offers zero hope for the future. Its only response to crisis after crisis is to move in an even more parasitic and miserable direction. The ruling class has increasingly turned toward nationalism, anti-migrant hatred, repression, and attacks on women, LGBTQ+ people, and democratic rights to try to stabilize their decaying system. Despite a soaring cost of living, they are turning to increased austerity. Amid more and more climate catastrophes, they have abandoned their ‘green’ promises. Now, Donald Trump’s regime has accelerated the rightward and authoritarian shift of political parties the world over. Trumpism is a global phenomenon, and our fight against it must be international.
Only the working class, armed with a socialist program and organized into mass struggle on an international scale, has the power to prevent the capitalist class from driving humanity off the cliff. Many people the world round are looking to fight back, but at the same time, the question of leadership and organization of the working class still reflects an early stage of the reemergence of class struggle.
A Marxist program and revolutionary socialist leadership for our movements is absolutely vital to stand a chance at winning a world free from poverty and oppression, a world where regular people are in charge of their own lives, where we democratically decide on how to run society – a socialist world. This is what International Socialist Alternative is fighting for. And we need your support to make that possible!
In order to carry out our work – organizing protests and meetings, producing our publications, supporting workers in struggle – we rely on donations from ordinary people, our members and supporters. International Socialist Alternative is different from mainstream political organisations in that we receive no financial backing from the capitalists or their institutions.

ISA in Action
In Germany we’ve seen a surge in support for the left as young people find themselves repulsed by Trump 2.0, the rise of the far-right AfD and the shift to the right of establishment politics. The whip of reactionary developments has driven tens of thousands of young people to get organised – support for Die Linke has surged with 30,000 new members. This has presented our German section Sozialistische Alternative with opportunities, both to be part of building the kind of mass party that is needed – a socialist party of struggle – whilst at the same time drawing workers and youth who see the need for revolutionary change towards ISA.
In Nigeria, ISA member Daniel Akande was arrested along with other activists following the August 2024 #EndBadGovernance protests that demanded an end to the government’s ongoing attacks on the working class. They face trumped-up charges, which carry potential death sentences. The trial has been postponed three times now. On all occasions, our members and supporters have mobilised to attend the trial in Abuja. Internationally, comrades have organised protests at embassies and other activities. International solidarity via our fundraising campaign was vital to support Daniel and his family while he was in prison for one month, and to support Movement for a Socialist Alternative’s (ISA in Nigeria) work overall on this challenging terrain.
Members of Socialist Alternative England, Wales, and Scotland organised a tremendously successful Conference of Resistance where PACE (People’s Alliance for Change and Equality) was launched – spearheaded by our members and making the call for a new left party. Over 200 people attended including Jeremy Corbyn. PACE brings together community campaigns, trade unionists and social movements in Kirklees to build a working-class socialist political alternative locally, but the conference became a rallying cry for a new left party on a national level, something which is now imminent. This is a very exciting development and will present big opportunities to build ISA and the ideas of revolutionary socialism on a broader scale.
Trump’s efforts to massively ramp up deportations, followed by sending the National Guard to quell protests in Los Angeles, has served as a whip of reaction that drove over 2% of the US population onto the streets on 14 June. This represents the largest single day of protest in US history, and a qualitative shift for both the Trump regime and the anti-Trump movement. Our US section joined the nationwide protests on 14 June and launched a Union Members Against ICE petition, signed by over 1,000 people. The enthusiasm we encountered around taking workplace action against Trump’s deportations demonstrated the massive vacuum that has been criminally left by the union leadership, who have offered nothing close to the lead needed in this moment.
